US$ 50 MILLION AIRPORT HOTEL IN KATUNAYAKE

The ground breaking ceremony of the Mixed Development Project in Katunayake was launched today by QVentures Investment (Pvt) Ltd. The proposed development will consist of 150 room hotel, 60 apartments, a state of the art shopping mall, business and recreational lounges and restaurants. The total built up area would be approximately 650,000 sq.ft.

The Project was launched at the ground breaking ceremony held at the site on Wednesday the 10th of December 2014 in the presence of the former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Chairman Development Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed, a well-known Malaysian Developer Datuk Patrick Lim and BOI officials.

Design Consortium International (Pvt) Ltd, the renowned firm of Architects & Consulting Engineers are the Consultants for this project. Vidyajyothi Architect Prof. Lakshman Alwis, Chairman and Architect Migara Alwis, Managing Director were present at the ceremony.

The said development is a first of its kind in the area offering a city within a city concept and will support the rapid development which is taking place with the initiative of the government. This development will facilitate functions of the Katunayake Airport and Katunayake Export Processing Zone. The development is estimated at US$ 50 Million and it is currently targeted to be completed within 36 months.
